| Dr. Takashi Michael Wada, MD,
MPH is a Board Certified Family Practitioner and
Director/Health Officer of the Santa Barbara Public Health
Department. Dr. Wada received both his medical degree and
a master's in public from UCLA. He has been a licensed
medical doctor since 1995 and obtained a board certification
in family medicine in 1997. In 2008, he completed the
Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University's Kennedy
School of Government.
After completion of his residency in Family Practice, he
worked as clinical physician at a number of community
clinics in Southern California, including the Venice Family
Clinic, one of the largest free clinics in the country. A
significant portion of their clients had either Medi-Cal or
Healthy Families insurance. In addition, he completed
a public health fellowship with a focus on access to health
care for underserved populations and also served on the
State Healthy Families Advisory Board. He was
previously a staff physician at Kaiser Permanente in Los
Angeles and the UCLA Center for the Study of Latino Health
and Culture.
Dr. Wada is the father of a small child and his wife is
expecting their second child.
